Viola Davis stars in Steve McQueen’s latest feature, “Widows.” Centered around four women whose lives are turned upside down after their husbands are killed before pulling off a major heist. Once the women realize they are entitled to pay their husbands debts they pull together to finish the job and take matters into their own hands to survive.
Our husbands aren’t coming back,” Davis explains in the trailer. “We’re on our own. They stole a lot of money and now people want it from us. Now, the best thing we have going for us is being who we are. Because no one thinks we have the balls to pull this off.”
The modern-day thriller is based on a British miniseries and is co-writen by the Oscar-winning director from “Gone Girl,” Gillian Flynn. Set in Chicago, “Widows” stars Cynthia Erivo, Elizabeth Debicki, Michelle Rodriguez, Jacki Weaver, Liam Neeson from the hit movie “Taken,” “Atlanta Fx’s” Brian Tyree Henry, “Get Out” star, Daniel Kaluuya, Colin Farrell, Robert Duvall, Lukas Haas and Brian Tyree Henry.
